[读书笔记] 丁尼生 《尤利西斯》 节选

本杰明格雷厄姆八十岁生日爬梯上对儿孙们做了个演讲,演讲最后以这一段诗作结尾。这首诗是写老年的,不过我看了后觉得很受激励,就抄录下来以作自勉:" H) O8 o( Z5 v" B: H8 Q

* Z4 `9 d0 t! R0 \; n( l$ ~'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
6 n) L7 ~3 f- _0 ~7 q' g % ~( T# U5 P  x( g
Push off, and sitting well in order smite! o1 L* h# J2 \3 r& L

$ \& \/ b: W% P( v! i" l0 o3 [) l, Y2 _The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds: {0 K  X3 H" _# i! D! v1 F8 ?

) t7 R# G) r  O1 Y& rTo sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
' V( \/ k( B# C$ B& g 5 f. H' z' Z  h1 h6 S
Of all the western stars,until I die.. C# [8 N: S0 L1 n/ [

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;8 a3 ^- g. {, h: d6 v

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

We are not now that strength which in old days
