【学英语】Cold hard cash ?

我们一般说现金时用cash，那么cold hard cash是啥玩意呢？
按字典定义，cold hard cash是实体上存在的货币，纸币和硬币，其余的诸如支票、信用卡、银行账户上的余额、电子货币等都不算数。一些人买房时不用贷款，直接走银行储蓄或支票账户，大家一般说是现金（不如说是现款）买房，这个是cash，而不是cold hard cash。
例句：
1. If someone is kidnapped, the kidnappers may give a ransom note that demands “cold, hard cash” in exchange for the kidnapped person's life. 如果有人被绑架，绑架者可能会发出勒索信，要求实实在在的现金以换取被绑架者的生命。
2. Q: Why did the robber put his money in the freezer? A: Because he wanted cold hard cash!" 为啥劫匪要把他的钱放冰箱冻起来？因为他想得到实实在在的现金。(注：这是个笑话，类似把软盘放冰箱里冻成硬盘一样)
