    when you make a make-buy decision, cost is only one consideration.  There could be other more strategic considerations that go into the final make-buy decision, such as quality control, timely delivery, secured supply (to prevent competitors from stealing your suppliers), reducing volatility or uncertainty in the supply chain (which could have a huge impact on your bottom line), etc.  For YKK's core product, given its high-risk and low-price nature, vertical integration makes huge business sense.

      A* ]4 U+ q* ^/ w; a- lNot necessarily.  The consumer goods industry typically attracts more competitors thus has a much higher level of competition, which drives down the profitability for all players.  Only a handful of the industry leaders could potentially reap high profits.
